Certificate in International Public Sector Financial Reporting (Cert IPSFR)

What is the Cert IPSFR?

A certificate level programme accessible online, Cert IPSFR provides a practical insight into two sets of standards – international financial reporting standards (IFRSs) and their public sector equivalents, international public sector accounting standards (IPSASs).

CIPFA and ICAEW have combined their expertise to ensure that if you work in or advise the public sector, you are prepared for the impact of these international reporting frameworks.

The Cert IPSFR will benefit anyone who requires an understanding of international financial reporting standards within the public sector.

In particular it is suitable for:

• accountants and finance staff at all levels involved in the preparation of financial statements
• IFRS and IPSAS implementation and maintenance teams
• internal auditors and consultants dealing with financial reporting
• trainers wishing to refresh their knowledge of the standards

What will you learn?

The e-learning programme comprises 41 modules with illustrations, examples and practice questions to help you put theory into practice, so you can implement immediately in your workplace.

At the end of each module, you can test your knowledge in preparation for the final online assessment.

• Financial statement presentation
• Funding, revenue and expenditure
• Asset and liability reporting
• Entity consolidation and combination
• Disclosure and other matters

You will have unlimited access for 12 months, enabling you to fit learning around your work and personal commitments - we recommend 70 hours study time.

Online assessment

You also have the opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge by taking the online assessment. It contains 60 multiple-choice questions and is two hours long.

When you submit your answers to all the questions, you will receive your results immediately. On successful completion, you can download and print your CIPFA and ICAEW recognised certificate. This will demonstrate your understanding and knowledge in public sector financial reporting.
