CFq examinations
There are two assessments each year for the Diploma and Advanced Diploma levels, in March and September. Exam results are published on the website on 30 April and 22 October.

Diploma / Intermediate Stage examination
The exam is a four-hour case study based paper which covers the technical skills and analysis covered throughout the learning process.
Advanced Diploma / Stage examination
The exam is a four-hour paper based around a high level case study, but with the focus switching to the strategic decision making and deal structuring processes. The case study will be pre-released in advance for the purpose of comprehensive analysis and financial modelling.
The examination will simulate a real-life corporate finance transaction and participants will have to react to a previously unseen deal scenario based on new information.
Registering for examinations
Students in Europe
Classroom-based course
You must register for the examination directly with the ICAEW approximately five weeks prior to the examination date.
Self-study course
If you enrolled on a distance learning course, you will need to register directly with the ICAEW.
Students in Asia
Students must register for the examination directly with the ICAEW approximately five weeks prior the examination date.
Students in North America
If you have registered for the CICA CF Education Program, you will be automatically registered for the March exam sittings. No further registration is required.
However, if you are not registered with the CICA CF Education Program, you must register for the examination directly with the ICAEW approximately five weeks prior to the examination date.
Students in the Middle East
Students must register for the examination directly with the ICAEW approximately five weeks prior the examination date.
