ACA entry routes

The ICAEW offers four pathways to train for the ACA:

  • University

    The majority of ACA trainees are graduates, who come from a range of disciplines.

    Train for the ACA as a university graduate

  • A-Level

    As long as your A-Level results are good, it is possible to train for the ACA qualification.

    Train for the ACA as a school-leaver

  • ICAEW Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business

    The certificate comprises of the same Knowledge Modules used for the Professional Stage of the ACA. Students have the opportunity to continue on to the next stage of the ACA upon successful completion of CFAB.

    AAT-ACA Fast Track

    The AAT-ACA Fast Track is a progression route designed in partnership with the AAT to encourage high calibre students to study for the ACA qualification after completing the AAT.

  • Other professional qualifications

    If you have another accountancy qualification or professional business qualification, you may be able to transfer to the ACA.
